The jornual publishes those scientific and methodological studies on the past and present of the theory and practice of pedagogy, social pedagogy, kindergarten pedagogy, special education, that had not been published yet. Furthermore, we also publish student's paper, book reviews, and children's book reviews.
hu-HU fizel.natasa@szte.hu (Fizel Natasa) roszik.dora@szte.hu (Roszik Dóra) Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0100 OJS 3.3.0.13 http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss 60 Analysis of Miro Gavran’s Puppet Play The Pet Doctor https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45574
Miro Gavran’s works were published in forty languages, and his plays were seen by more than four million viewers. Since 2021, he has been the president of the main Croatian literary and cultural institute, Matica Hrvatska. In this study I would like to give a short review to Hungarian teachers, parents and puppeteers about his works in context with children’s literature. In this story a dog and a cat go to the animal doctor because they suffer from medical and communicational problems. The doctor and his surgeon’s mate, a parrot help them to overcome their fears in connection with surgeries. After the visit they also stop discordance and become true friends.
Viktória Varga Copyright (c) 2023 https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45574 Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0100 Taboo topics and their appearance in contemporary Hungarian fairy tales https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45576
In my study, I map the taboo contents and phenomena appearing in contemporary Hungarian fairy tales. Using the method of triangulation, I investigated the issues of taboo in children’s literature with a qualitative research process, focusing on the availability of stigmatized content in specialized literature, as well as the concept, functions, and possible causes of the appearance of taboo – making an attempt to clarify conceptual contradictions. With the help of the interviews prepared for the research, the parent questionnaire and the content analysis, I mapped the choices of parents regarding children’s literary works, the main focus of which is dealing with educational situations considered delicate. Divided into areas, the thesis reviews the demand for storybooks dealing with taboo topics, as well as the demand for quality literature, as well as the adaptive formation and adaptation of book publishing. The presented problem areas can provide clues for the planning of future educational research.
Lilla Csőgér Copyright (c) 2023 https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45576 Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0100 The importance of choosing quality children’s works – Analysis of Benedek Elek’s fairy tale titled Többsincs királyfi https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45578
The use of quality works for children in kindergartens is also crucial from an aesthetic and pedagogical point of view. However, judging what is good is not so easy, since there is now a rich selection of books available, whether it is books from previous decades or contemporary works. Educators, kindergarten teachers and parents can choose from several books, but how do we find our way in the multitude of them? Why is it important to examine a work intended for children from an adult’s perspective? To answer the question, I chose the method of fairy tale analysis, which conveys exciting and interesting facts. There are events and phenomena that are considered everyday events that children do not even notice, but adults often want to explain these twists and turns and find a logical solution to them. However, it is precisely the explanation, the appropriateness of which can be questioned, since good fairy tales are characterized by the fact that anything can happen in them. In my study, I analyze a work by Benedek Elek to prove this statement.
Eszter Lőrincz Copyright (c) 2023 https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45578 Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0100 Kindergarten through children’s eyes: results of a pilot study https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45565
In this study, we present the first results of a small sample empirical study. In the first part of the study, we outline the main research directions of the studies carried out in early childhood in Hungary, then we describe the methodological foundations of our study, with particular regard to the age characteristics of the age group, and finally we present and interpret the partial results. The analyzes shed light on how the five- and six-year-old children participating in the study relate to their own kindergarten, how satisfied they are with kindergarten activities, and what ideas they have about a good kindergarten. The results can bring you closer, through concrete examples, to a more precise understanding of the way of thinking of preschool children and their ideas about kindergarten. They can provide starting points for conducting further empirical studies.
Krisztina Kovács, Berta Bánfi, Flóra Irsai, Sára Varga Copyright (c) 2023 https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45565 Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0100 Examining misconceptions about Roma minorities related to education in teacher trainees https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45566
There are several cultural misconceptions about the Roma, including misconceptions in relation to education. In the present research, we investigate the knowledge and the cultural misconceptions of teacher trainees. Such misconceptions are intertwined with prejudices and may influence the everyday work of teachers. The existing textbooks offer little help in terms of knowledge about the Roma and about the cultural misconceptions in connection with them, so preparing teacher trainees has paramount importance. 319 teacher trainees participated in the survey. The acceptance of cultural misconceptions was examined with Likert-scale items. According to the results, the participants attributed the lack of school success of Roma children to the inadequate home environment, cultural characteristics, and insufficient parental knowledge. School segregation was widely rejected by the participants. The teacher trainees were uncertain about whether culture could influence Roma students’ attitude to learning. Our results may contribute to the identification of those cultural misconceptions about the education of Roma minorities which require special attention in teacher training.
Csenge Halász, József Balázs Fejes Copyright (c) 2023 https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45566 Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0100 The Relationship of Epistemic Trust, Self-Efficacy and Self-Esteem among Young Adults https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45567
A crucial part of the formation of self-image is the ability ofepistemic trust, through which we believe that the information provided to and about us is true and the people providing the information are credible and reliable. In our study, we examine the relationship between epistemic trust, self-efficacy and resilience among young adults. The study involved 627 young adults, 180 men (29%) and 447 women (71%). The mean age of the sample was 23.75 years (SD=3.42). The participants filled out the Hungarian versions of the following queistonnaires: the Epistemic Trust, Mistrust and Credulty Questionnaire (ETMCQ), the Rosenberg Self-Evaluation Scale (RSES-H) and General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES). Our correlational analysis found no relationship between epistemic trust and self-efficacy or self-esteem, but epistemic credulity had a medium-strength negative correlation with both variables, while for epistemic vigilance we found a significant correlation with self-evaluation. Our regression analysis showed that epistemic credulity had almost the same effect on self-esteem in the group of working young people as in the group of young people who are only concerned with their studies, while those who work while studying are more exposed to the negative effects of epistemic distrust. The significance of our research lies in its pioneering approach, as there are few studies that examine epistemic uncertainty in healthy populations. Our results suggest that these characteristics are not only present in patients with mental disorders, but that the theory can also be generalized to healthy populations.
Erzsébet Szél, Kitti Kóródi Copyright (c) 2023 https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45567 Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0100 Gamification – A teacher’s challenge in the digital space https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45568
Today’s schools face significant problems in terms of student motivation and engagement. Gamification, i.e. the integration of game elements into the non-game processes of life, allows schools to address these problems. Teachers often have mixed feelings about gamification, perhaps also because their methodological repertoire in this respect is incomplete.
Mária Jaskóné Gácsi Copyright (c) 2023 https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45568 Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0100 Aspects of Teaching a Second Language to Learners with Mild Intellectual Disability https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45569
The present paper deals with the issues of teaching a second language to school-aged children with SEN in Hungary. In our research we made semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions featuring nine language teachers living all over the country working in specific institutions and asked for their experience in teaching a second language to children with SEN. The research took place in spring 2022 and, besides interviews in person, we also carried them out online. The segregated schools in Hungary can teach German or English from grade 7 to their students and the decision is usually based on the staff qualifications. Based on the answers of the language teachers, we came to the conclusion that they pay attention to individual development and playful, communicative language teaching, even though it is challenging to teach English to children with SEN, as they often have difficulties in their mother tongue. Also, teachers’ creativity using ICT tools, IWB, Mimicry Memorization Method and (traditional) games such as Pac-Man, memory games, card games and board games plays an even more important role, since they rely heavily on their own teaching experience. Our research involves a focus group discussion with 7 children with mild intellectual disability in Grade 7. It became clear to us that they do not deal with English at home and only a few of them listen to music in English. However, they all think learning English is important for their future, especially in the areas of work and travel.
Magdolna Nemes, Emília Jeszták Copyright (c) 2023 https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45569 Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0100 Collaboration of Mentors in Church-Supported Kindergartens in Hódmezővásárhely – Birth of a Workshop https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45570
A pivotal stage in the process of becoming an educator is the internship years. As mentors, we assist and support our novice colleagues during this challenging period, helping them articulate their pedagogical views and develop their competencies. As mentors, we value professional cohesion, exchange of experiences, methodological innovation, and continuous self-improvement. In collaboration with church-supported institutions in my hometown, I established a working group named „Együtt MEGY” to support mentors and interns in Hódmezővásárhely’s church-supported kindergartens. The first part of the study provides a brief overview of the current challenges, issues, and deficiencies in the mentoring field. In my opinion, the foundation for effective collaboration between mentors and interns – aside from individual consultations with interns – lies in organizing mentorship and mentor-intern meetings. These gatherings can facilitate the sharing of experiences, best practices, and professional development. The study presents the background of establishing our working group, the workshop activities conducted in the first year, their outcomes, and the tasks ahead in the coming period.
Andrea Ládáné Petrecz Copyright (c) 2023 https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45570 Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0100 Restorative conflict management and environmental education in kindergarten practice https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45573
In the whole society, at the level of smaller communities and individuals, we experience countless controversial situations every day. There is an increasingly pressing need for alternative solutions to collisions. Education and training institutions must play a prominent role in presenting conflict management methods. The reason for this is that there are countless opportunities to learn and practice these techniques in the community. With conscious, planned pedagogical influences in the kindergarten, we can achieve that the positive personality traits formed during the arrangement methods permanently shape the children’s character. The purpose of my publication is to present the suitability, methods and results of conflict management with a restorative approach in kindergarten. I share the experiences of my work as a kindergarten teacher.
Mária Bodnárné Fülöp Copyright (c) 2023 https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45573 Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0100 Medvemese, avagy a pandémia kihívásai gyermeknyelven https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45581 Katalin Gitay-Koós Copyright (c) 2023 https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45581 Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0100 Deliága Éva – Lovász Hajnalka: Mit kezdjünk a…? – könyvsorozat https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45582 Enikő Turcsányi Copyright (c) 2023 https://www.analecta.hu/index.php/modszertani-kozlemenyek/article/view/45582 Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0100
